“In Pranic Healing, there are two basic principles: the Cleansing and energizing of the patient’s energy body with prana or life Energy. It is by cleansing or removing the diseased energy from the affected chakra and the diseased organ, and energizing them (the affected chakra and organ) with sufficient prana or life energy that healing is accomplished. These two basic principles are the very foundation of pranic healing (Kok Sui, 2004, p. 49).”
Cleansing of the energetic system is one of the foundational differences between Pranic Healing and other energy healing modalities. Cleaning away stagnant/congested/diseased energy prior to adding fresh energy is very important. While you can clean away “old” energy by adding new, it is like ringing out a sponge and then rinsing it with fresh water versus simply trying to rinse a sponge that is full of dirty water with fresh. Both will eventually work, but one is more efficient. By ringing out the dirty water from the sponge, the sponge has the capacity to absorb the fresh water, much like cleaning the energetic system before adding fresh energy will allow the system to absorb the energy.
Furthermore, by first clearing away the old before adding fresh energy, only the necessary amount of energy needs to be added. This prevents the radical reactions that are sometimes reported with other energetic modalities, when large amounts of energy are flooded into the system to disintegrate the old energy. These radical reactions are also referred to as a healing crisis which can be avoided by simply not overwhelming or overtaxing a system with too much energy.
Additionally, Pranic Healing differs because of its use of colored pranas (energies) that are utilized for specific purposes. Each colored prana utilized is done so for a specific purpose as each color has specific functions. Using colored pranas within a Pranic Healing treatment is an advanced skill used by practitioners with additional experience. The use of colored pranas is very advantageous as they are able to significantly accelerate healing. “Using a color prana instead of white prana is just like approaching a specialist instead of a general practitioner. (Kok Sui, 1992, p. 3)”
